Solidarity In Action JA+
About Lesson

Objective:

To cultivate deeper connections and strengthen mutual understanding by engaging in a meaningful conversations with members (2-3 people) of your local or chosen community. This practice encourages reflection, curiosity, and shared vision through active listening and mutual exchange.

Instructions:

1. Identify a Conversation Partner:
Reach out to 2-3 people in your community—this could be a neighbor, elder, youth, colleague, or someone whose story you’re curious about. Aim to speak with someone you don’t usually have long conversations with.

2. Set a Time to Talk:
Plan for a 30–45 minute conversation. This can happen in person, over the phone, or via video call—whatever works best for both of you.

3. Root the Conversation in Care:
Approach the exchange with openness and respect. This is not an interview, but a mutual dialogue. Allow the conversation to unfold naturally, using the guiding questions below as prompts if needed.

Guiding Questions (Optional Prompts):

What motivates you to show up for others or your community?

Can you share a time when you experienced or witnessed mutual aid in action?

What does solidarity mean to you on a daily basis?

What’s something you’re currently learning, healing, or unlearning?

When you imagine a just and caring future, what do you see? What’s one small step you’re taking toward that vision?
